Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how RouteHero ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the RouteHero mobile application and any associated web services (collectively, the "Service").
By using RouteHero, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and a hashed password (or Google account identifier if you sign in with Google).
- Business data you enter: Information about your locations, machines, collections, payouts, prize inventory, and service tickets. This is your data — you control what you put in.
- Photos: If you choose to attach a photo to a collection or service ticket, we store that image associated with your account.
- Communications: If you contact us for support, we keep a record of the conversation.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage data: Pages viewed, features used, time spent in the app, and similar analytics. This helps us improve the product.
- Device data: Device type, operating system, app version, and approximate location (city-level, derived from IP address) for diagnostic purposes.
- Crash logs: If the app crashes, we collect a diagnostic report (no personal data attached).
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect precise location data (GPS coordinates).
- We do not access your contacts, photos library, microphone, or camera without your explicit per-action permission.
- We do not collect biometric data.
- We do not access other apps on your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Authenticate you and protect your account.
- Send you operational messages (e.g., account verification, password resets).
- Respond to support requests.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activity.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your business data (locations, machines, revenue figures) with third parties for marketing.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers: We use third-party services to host the app and process payments (Adalo for the app platform, Stripe for billing if you have a paid plan). These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and may only use your data to provide services to us.
- Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers: If RouteHero is acquired or merged, your information may transfer with the business. We will notify you before this happens.
4. Data Retention
- Active accounts: We retain your data as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts: When you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security reasons.
- Backups: Data in encrypted backups may persist for up to 90 days before being permanently erased.
5. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export your data in a portable format (CSV).
- Object to certain uses of your data.
To exercise these rights, email us at [email protected].
California residents: You have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and the right to opt-out of any "sale" (we don't sell, so this doesn't apply).
EU/UK residents: You have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
6. Security
We protect your data with industry-standard practices:
- Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest.
- Hashed passwords (we never store plain-text passwords).
- Access controls and audit logging.
- Regular security reviews.
No system is 100% secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you promptly as required by law.
7. Children's Privacy
RouteHero is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.
8. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States. If you use RouteHero from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and notify you via email or an in-app notice for material changes. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
